Critical ramblings and gamer's rage

gaywrites:

The government of Nepal has announced that citizens will now have the option of designating “other” as their gender on an official ID, rather than stating “male” or “female.” The change will take effect in a few weeks.

From Advocate.com:

LGBT activists in the nation welcomed the decision, which implements a ruling made by Nepal’s Supreme Court in 2007, reports wire service Deutsche Presse-Agentur. It will help transgender people as well as others who suffer discrimination because their appearance does not match the gender listed on their citizenship cards, they said.

“Our community feels we are finally being granted an identity by the state, and my friends have told me they feel proud about it,” said Sunil Babu Pant, Nepal’s first openly gay legislator.

Little steps like these are helping us break outside binaries. Good for Nepal.

Sounds more to me like a loophole to deny transpeople from being able to change it to their desired sex. That’s how states who have this here in the US use it. MtF? FtM? Not even trans at all, but just gay? Too bad, now you’re “other”; you’re a freak, you’re not what you think you are, and you never will be. This isn’t progress at all; it has nothing to do with “breaking gender boundaries”. You can say it’s better than nothing, but so was Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.

i think there’s a moment in everyone’s life where you need realize that you shouldn’t give a single shit what anyone else thinks and you come to the conclusion that you live for yourself and what you want and need in life. not to say you’re selfish, because that might include…

like right outside of the convention these mega christians came and started protesting against gays and how they’re trying to be something they’re not and how we’re all sinning because we’re all dressing up as things we’re not and whatever
and then gamzee got on this tiny truck and slowly rode in front of the protesters and it was glorious and was probably the best thing that happened all day

Shit just got real fast didn’t it?

If we ignore that a percentage of these girls (in porno) are probably just doing “gay-for-pay,” I love the thought here. xD

Actually that doesn’t make a difference, they are still depicted as gay and therefore it is the same.

Under different circumstances I’d help, but there’s too many people in my apartment right now. Reblogged for visibility, though. Good luck.

I believe I’ve seen a comprehensive description of consent once before. Figured I’d contribute as it’s a subject that bears repeating.

Consent is:

  • Non-coercive: If you’re cojoling, threatening or otherwise trying to “convince” someone to engage in a sexual act with you, you…

Men Can Stop Rape’s new College Bystander Intervention campaign.

Actual good anti rape campaign posters! They don’t shame victims, they ask people to examine their own actions and inactions and protect their friends. And not in a gross excuse for chivalry either, just as people keeping people safe.

I like this.

Yep I agree. I also like how it’s not tying a man taking action around rape to some imaginary alpha male/hypermasculine sort of thing. Like a real man would do such and such.

Glad to see this.
